Unusual Foliage Wall At Sushi Samba Restaurant In London
An unusual request for a bespoke foliage wall arrived at TreeLocate this summer. Interior landscape designers Randle Siddeley of London were requested to clad a wall with orange foliage in the Sushi Samba Restaurant in Heron Tower, London.
Prototyping began in early July with detailed plans and finalised specifications and colour leading to full production for this large project commencing three weeks later.
The final requirement involved fourteen custom built steel-frames covered in a variety of foliage types including Boston Ferns, ficus leaves, ivy and others … but they all had to be a strong tangerine orange colour instead of green.
Being an indoor display, FIRESILX™ inherently fire-retardant foliage was used. It was then sprayed with a fire-resistant paint, taking several coats per foliage bunch to completely mask the underlying green colour of the artificial plants. The complete production process from instruction to delivery took just over two months, producing everything in-house.
Following final build of the panels, custom-made transit pallets were built to ensure safe transit from Northumberland to London.
