A Guide to Planting Artificial Plants in a Planter

Artificial plants have become increasingly popular in recent years, offering a low-maintenance and long-lasting alternative to live plants. Whether you’re looking to add some greenery to your home or enhance your outdoor space, artificial plants  can create a vibrant and stylish atmosphere. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process of planting artificial plants in a planter, using our range of products as an example.

Choosing the Planter and Plants:

On our web store, we offer a wide selection of artificial stem flowers, foliage, plants, and planters/pots. For this project, we opted for a sleek black trough planter to create a modern and eye-catching display. To infuse a summery vibe, we carefully selected a range of vibrant artificial petunias.

Preparing the Planter:

Before planting the artificial plants, it’s essential to ensure that the planter is ready to accommodate them. Start by measuring the width, height, and length of the planter. Based on these measurements, cut a block of polystyrene to fit snugly into the desired area of the planter. This block will serve as a stable foundation for the plants. As an added convenience, we offer a bespoke polystyrene service that allows you to receive a tailor-made shape, eliminating any inconvenience on your part and making the process quick and effortless.

Creating Spaces for the Plants:

To create a visually appealing arrangement, it’s crucial to space the plants evenly within the planter. In our case, we marked out three equal spaces on the polystyrene block. While specialised tools are available for this purpose, we found that a simple screwdriver worked perfectly fine. Using the screwdriver, carefully poke through the marked-out spaces in a clockwise motion to create holes with sufficient depth for the plant stems.

Planting the Artificial Plants:

Once the holes are large enough, it’s time to insert the artificial plant stems into the planter. Gently place each stem into the corresponding hole, adjusting the angle and position to suit your desired arrangement. Be mindful of maintaining an even distribution of plants and ensuring they are properly secured in the polystyrene block.

Finishing Touches:

Once all the artificial plants are installed, scatter some bark over the polystyrene to provide the perfect finishing touches. Step back and admire your beautiful planter. You now have a fantastic display ready to add style and colour to any area that needs a touch of greenery or colour.
